About Stemmata

Stemmata is a self-hosted family-tree site. It holds any number of family trees, and each one is shared only with the relatives invited to it.

A tree can be started from scratch or imported from a GEDCOM file, the standard format that Ancestry and most genealogy programs export. Members can browse it as a chart or a searchable list, open anyone's page to see their dates, places, photos and story, and add or correct details as they learn more.

Any member can download the tree as GEDCOM at any time, so the family's research is never locked in.

Stemmata sets a cookie to keep you signed in, and once you've closed the cookie notice, a second one so it doesn't come back. Both are needed for the site to work, so they don't need your consent.

There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
